How does the project work?

After the application deadline, potential tandems are invited to the office of the University Women's Representative to get to know each other. In addition, candidates who have applied individually will be matched, taking into account their field of study, number of semesters, personal strengths and needs.

If the potential tandems do not know each other beforehand, a first meeting will be arranged. Afterwards, the applicants decide for themselves whether they would like to study and work together for six months.

The framework program

The framework program of tandemPLUS consists of three coaching workshops: Here, mentees and mentors learn time management and studying strategies and receive tips on how to organize their mentoring work efficiently.

Contents of the workshops are:

    • 1st workshop
    • In order to regulate the scope of services, a target agreement is formulated between mentee and mentor before the beginning of the semester. In addition, the tandems master study skills and time management strategies. They get to know the counseling services at LMU.

    • 2nd workshop
    • After the first few months in the mentoring program, the tandems can already draw an initial conclusion: Am I getting closer to my goal? How am I doing in terms of time? What went well? What can still be improved? In the 2nd tandemPLUS workshop, approaches for improvement are worked out and new goals for the second phase are formulated. Here you also have the opportunity to have a counseling session with a psychologist.

    • 3rd workshop
    • In the last session, the tandems discuss their results and evaluate the project. After a feedback meeting and submission of their final reports, a certificate of participation is handed out.

The workshops are both a duty and a privilege for all participants. In addition, the speaker and communication trainer, Dr. Susanne Frölich-Steffen (www.rede-schulung.de), as well as the office of the Women's Representative, are available to advise them throughout the program.
